Great classes in a great learning environment

Nielsen School of Dance is absolutely committed to providing you the highest quality dance classes to help enhance the overall development of your children. We guarantee a safe, friendly and welcoming environment to encourage our students to explore dance with experienced, nurturing teachers.

Our class options include:

Tiny Stars (3 to 4 yrs old): This 40-minute class is a great introduction for the tiny dancer. The students will find a nurturing safe environment to begin to explore dance movement. Dancing to a variety of music and props is not only fun, but educational and our activities help to refine motor skills, coordination, and creative thinking and develop social skills and a sense of community within the class. Children can sing along with basic tap and ballet songs and dance with their favorite princess to help students attain a love of dance.

Twinkle Stars (4 to 5 yrs old): In this 55-minute class dancers will learn to follow instructions as well as dance classroom etiquette in a fun and playful environment. Dancers will learn to explore rhythm and the primary steps that comprise ballet, tap and Jazz. Children also develop fine motor skills and explore the creative process through the use of props and imagery.

Shooting Stars (5 to 7 yrs old): In this 55-minute class dancers learn the primary steps that comprise ballet, tap and Jazz. The dancers learn to blend the joy of rhythm, movement, song, coordination and concentration together. These classes gently teach proper form while allowing students to attain a love of dance.

Combo Classes (ages 8-18)

55 min fun classes contain each of the following genres:

Tap: This class helps develop the poise and style of Broadway tap while executing the beats of rhythm tap. Progressive exercises help to increase the dancer's skills and speed in execution. We love making music with our feet!

Jazz/Hip-Hop: This class features classical and current styles of Jazz dance. Dancers will be able to further develop strength, flexibility, basic technique, proper alignment and musicality in a fun and energy filled class. In the Hip-Hop class, dancers develop their technique while performing unique, fun and exciting moves. From warm-up to cool down this class is always energizing.

Lyrical/Contemporary: Lyrical dance is a fluid and continuous style. Students learn to listen to music while simultaneously telling stories with their movements. Contemporary students dance to contemporary music while learning to improve their lines and technique.
